Repair Help

Q: My digital Maytag oven remains heated even though the temperature states it is at proper temperature. The temp indicator rises rather rapidly, yet it’s not very warm in the oven. What could be wrong?

Sounds like a defective oven sensor but your electronic control itself could be the problem. I would first replace the sensor itself since it is more likely and least expensive to replace.

Q: Is the frost build-up in my freezer normal?

If yours isn’t a self-defrosting freezer, frost build-up is normal. But when the frost gets to be ½” to 1″ thick, it’s time for you to defrost it. See your maintenance guide for your freezer.

Q: My dryer is not finishing the drying cycle and my clothes are still damp, what could be wrong?

Dryer softener sheets can leave residue that can cause the screen of the lint filter to become partially clogged or the electronic moisture sensor to be coated with residue. If this happens, clean the screen with a little detergent and soft-bristle brush, wipe off the sensor with a cotton ball and a little rubbing alcohol.

Q: My dishwasher is not draining it was really noisy for a couple of loads prior and now won’t drain, what could be wrong?

Could be something inside the pump and or from the pump motor. If the noise doesn’t go away it usually means the motor stopped working.

Q: My LG model a/c unit is frosting on the front evaporator (cooling) coil behind the grill, what’s wrong?

Frosting is usually caused by the unit being short of refrigerant. On some of the a/c models imported from overseas (like LG models) the denseness of the evaporator can be a problem. The normal seating of the evaporator creates enough of an obstruction to the air flow through the evaporator that icing can occur. Running the unit on a higher fan speed can help to prevent it as well as running it at a warmer setting to give the a/c chance to dehumidify the air to reasonable levels before running it for maximum cooling effect. Running the unit with the evaporator coil blocked will usually lead to premature fan motor failure.
